HEALTH CARE & WELL BEING

Wrapping up February 2023:

  • BC is pushing ahead with cancer prevention, treatment and equipment (announced Feb 24).
  • The Canada Health Transfer baseline funding turned out to be minimal, but BC is forging ahead “doing things differently” as Premier Eby put it last week. No word yet on any specifics for a bilateral agreement between the federal government and BC.
  • Recently a study report revealed that *any* amount of alcohol consumption contributes to getting cancer; breast cancer is directly linked to alcohol consumption. Many people are cutting back on food purchases as a way to deal with inflation.
  • IST continues to ask various local and regional groceries how they are helping their customers with pricing or sales.
