EDITOR’S NOTES

Week of February 27: BC Budget 2023 will be unveiled on February 28; I will be in the ‘budget lockup’ in downtown Victoria for several hours, reviewing the budget details and preparing questions for various ministers. This year I will focus on the budgets for Post-Secondary Education and Future Training, as well as Agriculture and Food. | During the rest of the week I will follow various industry sector responses and interview at least one Minister for a feature article. | Feature articles are in the works based on interviews with several women in various business sectors. | Premium Portal back-end development is still in the works; this took a while, in part, due to grappling with how the technology can deliver news-access to all readers while providing worthwhile services to paying subscribers. This must be the case, given the Island Social Trends mission to support a knowledge-based economy and society. To that end: a) website visitors to islandsocialtrends.ca will be able to find breaking news on the main page and use the drop-down menus to find other articles; b) Premium Subscribers will still get the curated Premium ENews by email, as well as being able to login to the Premium Access section where the six IST specialty areas are curated, i.e. Economy, Education, Environment & Sustainability, Health Care & Well Being, Housing & Urban Communities, and Politics.
