Earth Day 2026 is promoting awareness about conscious consumption.
Conscious consumption encourages people to consume less and do it better. It’s about reducing impact on the planet while improving quality of life without necessarily implying deprivation.
In a context of growing pressure on natural resources and ecosystems, conscious consumption is presented as a concrete, positive and accessible response.
Individual and collective:
The idea of conscious consumption applies both to individual choices and how people organize collectively — by rethinking modes of production, consumption and transportation, as well as the human relationship to energy, digital technologies and materials.
Earth Day Canada’s 2026 campaign aims to encourage citizens, municipalities, organizations and businesses to commit to conscious practices, whether they are energy-related, material, digital, organizational, behavioural or collective.
The goal: to promote a simpler, more inclusive and sustainable way of life, aligned with planetary boundaries.
