The major office supply store chain Staples started out last week by saying they were ramping up their in-store inventory of at-home office technology and ‘March Break essentials for families’, probably thinking they would get a run on customers. That was March 14.

Even last week they were running short on supply of wipes, disinfectant and hand sanitizer.

But just four days later, now they’ve announced to customers that starting tomorrow Thursday March 19 they will reduce store hours at Staples locations across Canada.

“This decision is a precautionary measure to help protect the well-being of the Staples community,” it was stated in an email from Staples CEO David Boone.

Staples store hours have been posted at www.staples.ca . A more direct link to stores in Langford (where the hours have been 8 am to 9 pm until now) and the Greater Victoria area is here:

In light of social distancing recommendations, we will also limit customer numbers in our stores for the comfort and safety of our associates. We’ve taken additional precautions to keep our communities safe, including extensive cleaning and sanitizing in each of our locations while they remain open for business.

For customers who prefer to shop online, staples.ca is offering free shipping with no minimums.
