In the growing Royal Bay area of Colwood, Latoria Boulevard is a main thoroughfare from Veterans Memorial Parkway to Metchosin Road.
For the next five weeks or so, frontage improvements along Latoria between Dunlin Road and Ryder Hesjedal Way (near the Metchosin Road end of Latoria) will cause some traffic delays between 7 am and 5 pm, March 21 through the end of April.
Drivers may need to wait a few minutes when arriving at or leaving the neighbourhood, says City of Colwood Engineering.
The neighbourhood includes many new homes, housing construction projects, and the large Royal Bay Secondary School. Commercial development is in various stages on the south side of Latoria at Metchosin Road including the future west shore long-term care facility set to open in 2027.
Drivers are advised:
- Expect single lane alternating traffic
- Existing bus stop will be temporarily located west of the Ryder Hesjesdal Way intersection.
- Pedestrian sidewalk along south side to be closed during construction.
- Emergency vehicles will always be given priority.
Traffic control personnel will be on site, says City of Colwood Engineering. Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are asked to follow directions, obey traffic signs, reduce speed, and use caution.
