Colwood public works staff are completing some unforeseen repairs and maintenance of the infrastructure around the pump station to ensure functionality and longevity of the critical equipment.
There may be extra noise and truck traffic in the vicinity over the next few days until repairs are complete.
The work period is March 27 to April 3, 2024.
The City of Colwood engineering staff recommend that drivers avoid the section of Ocean Boulevard between Lagoon Rd and Milburn Dr to allow rom for trucks and equipment that are supporting the work.
Local traffic only on Ocean Blvd between Milburn and Lagoon. Detour is in effect. Drivers are asked to obey signage.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
Tanner Northrup, manager of roads and utilities, is the manager for the project.
About the pump station:
The Ocean Boulevard Pump Station was constructed in 2000.
The station pumps raw sewage from a catchment area including approximately 200 dwellings (according to a 2016 City of Colwood report).
