As traffic advisories go, this is a biggie for commuters to and through the west shore. Especially now as schools are back from spring break.

Line painting will be done today Wednesday April 5 at the intersection of Sooke Road and Goldstream Avenue, along the northbound lanes of Sooke Road (Highway 14 / Island Highway) from Colwood Crescent to Belmont Road. From 10 am to 7 pm. | City of Colwood traffic page about this project

Expect single lane traffic along the northbound lanes in front of the Colwood Corners, Onni development.

That route carries commuters from Sooke, Langford and Colwood through to View Royal and Highway 1 and beyond. It’s a busy workday morning commuter route.

Busy area:

The entire area is significant for workday commuter, shopper and commercial traffic.

Goldstream Ave where it ends at Sooke Road is near the shopping mall anchored by Thrifty Foods. The Onni residential-commercial development is along Sooke Road there, as well as the busy Colwood Corners mall anchored by London Drugs, TD Bank, and other frequently-visited commercial outlets including on the other side a medical clinic, Westland Insurance, Pilgrim Coffee House, and The Academy of Excellence.
