If you’re not already hooked on the Wordle online wordplay game, you could be soon! Here’s how to play Wordle.
Meanwhile, the craze has caught on for various types of promotion.
Of course, there are the ‘bragging rights’ of skilled Wordle players who can share their Wordle victories in social media (that function is embedded within the Wordle program).
Wordle ‘gets vaxxed’:
And today Premier John Horgan took a stab at using the popularity of Wordle to promote COVID vaccination.
“GET VAXXED BC” is what he assembled within the Wordle graphic style (though of course only 5-letter words are possible in the real Wordle).
But it was effective. Got attention. Made a point. Pushed the government’s public health agenda.
COVID vaccination in BC:
Here’s how to get vaccinated against COVID in BC.
As per BC Centre for Disease Control statistics for January 17, 2022: 89.2% of the population that is eligible for vaccination (i.e. ages 5+) has received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with 83.4% having received a second dose. As the pediatric vaccine was only available starting November 29, 2021, naturally the vaccination percentages are higher for the 12+ population: 92.4% first dose, 89.6% second dose, and 35.3% third dose.
COVID vaccination in Island Health:
On Vancouver Island 1,718,138 doses of COVID vaccine have been administered since vaccines were first available starting December 2020.
Of those, 303,310 have been booster shots.
In the three-day period of January 14 to 17 there were 25,129 vaccine doses administered in Island Health. That’s a lot of work by dedicated health-care workers!
