There will be traffic delays in Langford for enabling the annual Ryder Hesjesdal Tour de Victoria Bicycle Race this Saturday morning, August 20.
Mostly in the Happy Valley Road / Sooke Road / Jacklin Road area, between 7:30 am and 10:30 am.
See local map for the cycling route along Happy Valley Road, Glen Lake Road, Langford Parkway, Leigh Road, Dunford Ave, Jacklin Rd, Orono Ave.
The full day’s route covers 45 km through a wide chunk of the Greater Victoria and south Vancouver Island area, including Metchosin, Langford, Colwood, Victoria, Saanich, and the Saanich Peninsula.
About the race:
The Ryder Hesjesdal Tour de Victoria race event — presented by Scotiabank — promotes itself as offering a scenic route and rider swag.
There is medical and mechanical support for cyclists. There are aid stations and traffic control on the route.
The race is promoted for all ages, all abilities, all bikes. There is a kids ride for ages 2 to 10.
Fundraising organizations had a goal of $110,000 which has now been surpassed, reaching $112,631.63 as of 2:30 pm Thursday August 18.
