This week more bus service got rolling in the Greater Victoria area.
In partnership with the Victoria Regional Transit Commission, BC Transit implemented their expansion in the Victoria Regional Transit System effective January 6, 2025.
As part of a service expansion, the Route 76 UVic/Swartz Bay will be reinstated with an additional stop at the Royal Oak Exchange in both directions.
To reflect an increase in demand and to provide better service reliability, improvements have been made to the following routes:
- Route 4 UVic/Downtown via Hillside
- Route 6 Royal Oak Exch/Downtown
- Route 7 UVic/Downtown via Fairfield
- Route 8 Interurban/Tillicum Centre/Oak Bay
- Route 14 Vic General/UVic
- Route 21 Interurban/Downtown
- Route 26 UVic/Dockyard
- Route 27 Gordon Head/Downtown
- Route 28 Majestic/Downtown
- Route 95 Langford/Downtown Blink
Late afternoon trip times on Route 51 Langford will be adjusted to better accommodate workday end times.
New year shifts:
Service resumed January 6 for all routes that were reduced over school winter break.
To better align with school bell times, minor adjustments are being made to trip times for the following routes:
- Route 25 Maplewood/Tillicum Centre
- Route 49 Skirt Mountain/Langford Exchange
- Route 83 Sidney/Brentwood/Royal Oak
More local and provincial funding:
This service expansion has been made possible by an increase in local and provincial funding. The operating grant provided in the 2024-25 provincial budget will allow BC Transit and the Victoria Regional Transit Commission to continue to provide safe and reliable service and demonstrates that public transit remains a priority in our communities.
BC Transit customers are encouraged to use the Umo app, Transit App, Google Transit or any other app of their choice for real-time bus tracking and planning your next transit journey.
