Two positions are open in the Esquimalt Fire Department, as promoted today on Twitter/ One of the positions closes tomorrow.

The position of assistant chief closes December 30 at 4:30 pm. It’s a regular full-time position, reporting to the Fire Chief. The position was first posted on December 1.

There is also a position for a part-time administrative assistant which closes on January 8 at 4 pm. It’s a union position, paid in the $28 to $30 per hour range (2020 rates). The position was first posted today.

The recruitment of firefighters is a separate process from the career positions.

The Esquimalt Fire Department is led by Fire Chief Chris Jancowski, two Assistant Fire Chiefs, 24 full-time firefighters, and one administrative staff member.

Fire vehicles include a rescue vehicle, three fire engines, and a ladder truck

Esquimalt Fire Department primarily serves the Township of Esquimalt and also provides assistance to several other communities when requested which include: CFB Esquimalt, City of Victoria, District of Oak Bay, District of Saanich, District of Central Saanich, Town of View Royal, City of Langford and City of Colwood.
