Back to celebrating in person, the Victoria Cool Aid Society holiday dinner will be held in person for the first time since 2019.
Catching up from the missed years of the pandemic, the dinner will held from 4:30 to 6 pm at the Cool Aid’s Downtown Community Centre, 755 Pandora Avenue.
“If ever there was a time when connection matters, it’s now,” says Tracey Robertson, Manager, Community Engagement, Victoria Cool Aid Society.
“And it matters even more for people who not only faced isolation and loneliness during the pandemic, but who continue to face it living on the streets and often challenged by mental health and substance use,” she said today in a new release.
Cool Aid’s client dinners “bring people together to create the invaluable connections that are such an important part of overall happiness and healing”.
The event is being sponsored entirely by Belmont Properties.
Roast beef this year:
The traditional holiday dinner has usually featured turkey. But this year due to the avian flu impact on poultry flocks in BC, the dinner will feature roast beef instead, says Robertson.
About 400 meals will be served.
Renovated centre:
The new Cool Aid Downtown Community Centre was recently renovated.
Cool Aid services include permanent housing, emergency shelter, health and dental care, employment assistance, and social and recreational opportunities.
