Editor and Publisher Mary P Brooke founded the publication series that started with MapleLine Magazine (2008-2010), expanding to be a weekly print paper as Sooke Voice News (2011-2013), then further expanding to a colour print weekly newspaper with PDF and online version as West Shore Voice News (2014-2020) before emerging fully online as Island Social Trends (since mid-2020). News posts are now daily, including BC provincial news.
