Members of the West Shore RCMP were out and about handing out flowers and chocolate to the seniors in our community on Valentine’s Day today, February 14.
Officers attended the Alexander Mackie Lodge and the Juan de Fuca Senior Centre. “We met with some amazing senior citizens,” says Cst. Nancy Saggar of the West Shore RCMP.
Officer in Charge, Inspector Todd Preston and Operations NCO Staff Sergeant Raj Sandhu, joined two of the detachment’s newest members, Cst. Gibson and Cst. Webb, to meet seniors.
Several of the seniors were a part of the detachment’s “Keeping in Touch” (KIT) program. The program is run by volunteers from the West Shore RCMP’s Community Policing unit.
The volunteers dedicate their time to calling the elderly people in our community and checking in on them to see how they are doing.
“This was a wonderful opportunity to spread some happiness. I’m glad we were able to do this on Valentine’s day”, said Saggar this afternoon.
