Tuesday, October 9 ~ WEST SHORE.
Trudy Spiller is running for election to the SD62 Board of Education. As a candidate in the Belmont Zone of the SD62 District (where residents of Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, and some of Highlands and View Royal cast their votes), Spiller is a determined fighter for public education.
“I will advocate for all students,” says Spiller, with a broad view to the bigger issues of public education. She believes in long term financial and capital planning that meets the needs of the fastest-growing school district on Vancouver Island, if not in BC.
Her philosophy and her goal is to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
She is fully in favour of class size and composition that support learning, and also hopes to provide support for students with exceptional abilities.
Spiller is a licenced practical nurse and a foster parent. She is a former member of the Employment Insurance Board of Referees. She calls herself a first nations role model for SD62 since 2011 and has served as a board member of the Victoria Native Friendship Centre.
Trudy has participated in various trustee election opportunities, including the all candidates meetings in Colwood and Langford.
The general election date is Saturday, October 20. Voting stations will be open 8 am to 8 pm. In Langford the voting stations are at Ruth King Elementary on Jacklin Road and at Millstream Elementary on Hoy Lake Road.
