Schools across Canada are taking part in Music Monday today, May 2.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of children, youth, teachers, parents and community members across Canada join #TogetherInHarmony for Music Monday.

Participating teachers and schools were provided with learning guides, resources, and recordings and pre-broadcast videos.

At Happy Valley Elementary in Langford, students were singing together for Music Monday. “Thanks to Ms K and Ms McKenna for all their hard work and organization!,” says SD62.

At Savory Elementary in Colwood their Music Money featured two concerts this afternoon (K-2 then Grades 3-5). Their music teacher Mr. Daykin prepared the students well. Their Kindergarten kids opened with “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. The Grade 5s concluded with the Arkell’s tune “ Arm in Arm”.  Who knew the “Eye of the Tiger” could be performed on the recorder?  A video of the two concerts will be sent home to families.

Other schools are also taking part. (More to come)
