A traffic-stop stemming from an erratic driver complaint led to the arrest of the driver after the vehicle she was in was found to have been previously reported stolen, says Cst. Alex Bérubé, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.

Yesterday, on Sunday afternoon, the West Shore RCMP had received a traffic complaint about a black pick-up truck travelling on Highway 14 (Sooke Road) in Metchosin.

A frontline officer located the vehicle in the 4000-block of Sooke Road and conducted a traffic stop. Upon investigating, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen out of Shawnigan Lake earlier in the month.

The female driver, Nancy Klein, 48, was subsequently arrested. As the investigation progressed, it was learned that the driver had provided a false name to police, was breaching several of her court imposed conditions, and was in possession of other stolen properties,” stated Cst Bérubé.

Klein is being held in custody as the investigation continues.
