Premier John Horgan has endorsed long-time school trustee incumbent candidate Bob Phillips for re-election to the Sooke School District 62 (SD62).

Phillips is running in the Milne’s Landing Zone of SD62 which incorporates voters from Sooke and the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area of the CRD; there are three seats in Milne’s Landing Zone.

The Belmont Zone of SD62 is comprised of voters from Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, and parts of View Royal and Highlands. There are four seats in the Belmont Zone.

Phillips has served 22 years as one of seven trustees on the board, at times as Chair and currently as Vice-Chair. His career background is social work, and he comes to board meetings data-laden with facts and trends about education, particularly regarding health indicators and levels of student achievement.

“His experience is just what we need to protect and promote public education. I am proud to endorse his re-election campaign,” says Premier Horgan.
