Pretty much open daily for five years at a busy corner location in Colwood, the family-run Pilgrim Coffee House at 1910 Sooke Road will be taking a hard-earned week off between Sunday November 10 and Sunday November 17, re-opening Monday November 18.
Owned by John and Jan Krottner and with daughter Teresa on board and other staffers, the popular coffee spot is a booming business that enjoys the proximity of Colwood Corners and Thrifty Foods mall shopping area, nearby Royal Roads University and Brookes Westshore private school, and the commuter traffic that makes its way past there on Island Highway to and from the west shore.
In addition to serving Drumroaster coffee (varieties will change as the crops change from originating sources such as Ethiopia) and wholesome snack and lunch options (including gluten-free), customers can buy Pilgrim coffee mugs and gift cards for family and friends.
Parking can sometimes be a bit packed, especially being next door to a busy medical clinic. But that doesn’t seems to stop many people from dropping in for the food and good vibe in a setting of basic seating and comfortable decor.
