The Duke Point terminal in Nanaimo will be closed temporarily for maintenance this weekend on both Saturday January 26 and Sunday January 27, says BC Ferries. During this two-day period, sailings will operate out of Departure Bay which is also in Nanaimo.

The regular Duke Point schedule has been modified to suit this unique routing.

This weekend, sailings will depart from both Departure Bay (Nanaimo) and Tsawwassen (Vancouver lower mainland) on the following schedule:

  • Saturday January 26, departing: 6:50 am, 9:20 am, 11:50 am, 2:20 pm, 4:50 pm, 7:20 pm.
  • Sunday January 27, deparing: 9:20 am, 11:50 am, 2:20 pm, 4:50 pm, 7:20 pm, 9:50 pm.

These are slow traffic times for the Duke Point route, says BC Ferries.

However, this could also possibly be a high-demand weekend for some travellers given this is the last weekend in the Nanaimo by-election campaign.
