A fourth candidate has entered the Nanaimo by-election race.

The BC Libertarian Party has nominated Nanaimo businessman Bill Walker. He said in a news release today that even without being in a major party he could make a difference.

Also running in Nanaimo in this campaign period toward the January 30 provincial by-election are Sheila Malcomson (NDP), Michele Ney (Green), and Tony Harris (BC Liberal).

If elected, Walker promises to use his vote in the legislature in favour of cutting the carbon tax, ending ICBC’s monopoly, and legalizing ride-sharing as soon as possible. Walker also wants to end what he calls the NDP’s “attack” on private clinics. Walker believes that retirees in Nanaimo need choices outside of the public health care system.

Walker will kick off his campaign with a rally at Diana Krall Plaza in Nanaimo on Saturday January 12 at 1pm.
