At the age of 11-and-a-half weeks, baby Anhad has made her national debut.
Anhad is the daughter of NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and wife Gurkiran Kaur Sidhu. She was born on January 3.
This is the first time that the broader public — through social media — has seen the little girl, and have learned her name.
Local Victoria MP Laurel Collins said the cuteness of the get-together of her own daughter Alora (now about a year old) with Anhad today was “almost too much to handle!”
Baby names:
In BC each year the most popular baby names are announced, and the media usually covers news of the first birth of the year.
Jagmeet in Sikh/Punjabi means ‘friend of the world’ or ‘win the world’. Gurkiran means ‘ray of the Guru’s light’.
In Sikh tradition, a newborn is named around two weeks after their birth in a special ceremony called Naam Karan.
Anhad means ‘no limits’ (for a girl) or ‘celestial music’ (for a boy).
