New names for the two new SD62 schools (one elementary K to Gr 5, and one middle Gr 6-8) sharing the same property on Constellation Drive in Westhills (in West Langford) will be unveiled at a public information session at Belmont Secondary School on Thursday March 12.
Doors open at 6 pm, with a short presentation in the school gym at 6:30 pm.
No word yet if this event time or place has been adjusted due to the COVID-19 advisories about large gatherings.
The last day of school before spring break is the next day, Friday March 13.
The land for the two schools on Constellation Avenue — with residential development on one side and West Shore Parkway on the other — will be levelled by October, so that construction can begin. The schools are scheduled to open for September 2022.
The student population is growing by several hundred per year. For the 2020-2021 academic year the expected influx is presently 412 more students. Almost 900 students were registered for Kindergarten for the September 2020 start.
