As of 9:15 am today November 18, the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says that overnight closures on Highway 1 in the Malahat stretch have been cancelled.
Single-lane alternating traffic (30 minutes at a time) will continue 24 hours a day, now that culvert repairs have been done (overnight last night).
Healthcare workers were escorted via bus through the Malahat repair site last night to make their hospital shift change. MOTI thanks everyone for “rolling with the punches” these last few days as they make repairs.
Gasoline supply:
The City of Langford has said this morning (at 8 am, November 18) that 15 gas tanker trucks currently mustered at the Bamberton site will travel by escort southbound over the Malahat (Highway 1) at 9 am today. That’s heading into Greater Victoria.
“There is no need to panic about gasoline supplies,” says Michelle Mahovlich, Director of Engineering.
