Playing the same Lotto 6/49 numbers for 36 years has paid off. A Burnaby couple has won $6 million in the March 16, 2022 draw.

Winners Cahu Ming (Lana) and her husband Yiu Fai Leung (Joery) were nudged by their son who said he saw his parents regular numbers mentioned on Instagram as the winning jackpot numbers.

An earlier-than-expected retirement is now in the cards. Lana says she plans to quit one of her two jobs and Joery says he will continue to work for the time being. They also plan to buy their son a car and pay off their daughter’s mortgage.

Sticking with their lucky home:

The winning ticket was purchased by Joery and Lana at the Lucky Mart on Nanaimo and East 7th in Vancouver where they’ve been buying lottery tickets for years.

Apparently the lucky couple had been planning to buy a new house to something less modest. But now they consider their current home too lucky to leave behind and plan to stay.

Big wins:

In 2021, lottery players in BC redeemed more than $99 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49. Each 6/49 draw includes a guaranteed prize draw of $1 million. The draws are on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 pm (Pacific).

Lottery revenues contribute to government revenues that pay for health care, education and community supports.
