Two Comox Valley co-workers who purchased a Lotto Max ticket at the Buckley Bay Beachcomber for the August 20, 2021 draw have won $500,000, to share. The ticket numbers matched 4/4 numbers to win the top Extra prize.

The two Vancouver Island winners are Deborah Banks who lives in Cumberland and Dale Miller who lives in Comox. They are co-workers in Fanny Bay.

With the funds, the friends each celebrated by treating their families to dinner, and otherwise intend to pay off their mortgages and save for retirement.

If the funds are shared 50/50, that’s $250,000 each.

The sensible application of the windfall funds highlights just how much the cost of living is these days, when — for each winner — a quarter of a million dollars is not something to squander.
