Underground construction work by BC Hydro continues along the stretch of Jacklin Road from the Galloping Goose crossing (across from the SD62 Administration Building) to Sooke Road (Hwy 14).
This causes some traffic backups during 7:30 am to 4 pm, even with two-way traffic being maintained by traffic control personnel on site.
This work has been ongoing since November 30, and is scheduled for completion at January 15.
As a test-run, on January 6 it took six minutes to travel the distance on Jacklin Road from the Galloping Goose crossing to the corner of Sooke Road (about 0.2 km) during morning traffic around 9 am.
If there is a prolonged traffic backup, one detour used by some motorists is to drive through the Belmont Market mall to get out to Kelly Road and over to Veterans Memorial Parkway (with the option for getting back to Sooke Road).
