Have you been out to vote yet in the Langford-Juan de Fuca by-election?

Ballots have been prepared by Elections BC.

There are five candidates on the ballot, listed in alphabetical order:

  • Camille CURRIE, BC Green Party
  • Mike HARRIS, Conservative Party
  • Elena LAWSON, BC United
  • Ravi PARMAR, BC NDP
  • Tyson Riel STANDLUND, Communist Party of BC

Voting process:

Voters can expect the usual process… show your voter card (received by postal mail) and some picture ID.

  • You’ll be shown the ballot, told that you can make your candidate selection with an ‘X’ in the circle to the right of the candidate’s name (or by filling in the circle).
  • You’ll be shown how to slide your completed ballot into a black privacy folder.
  • You”ll be handed a ballot and a black felt marker, then you head to the voting booth.
  • After voting in the private voting booth you take your ballot (in the folder) to the election worker who handles the ballot-counting machine.
  • The ballot-counting machine will read both sides of the ballot (so it doesn’t matter which way you put your ballot into the folder).
  • The machine confirms processing of a completed ballot.

Exit survey:

Back in the lobby you may be asked to complete an exit survey. That’s done in the old fashioned way… pen on paper.
