After a week of London Drugs stores being closed due to a cybersecurity attack, the Western Canada retail chain is methodically opening their stores again, one by one.
The first batch of reopened stores tallies to 14. Of those, 12 are on the BC mainland. Two of the reopened stores are on Vancouver Island: one in Nanaimo an one in Campbell River. That means still no fully-opened stores in Greater Victoria.
The other two reopened stores are in other provinces: one in Calgary and one in Saskatoon.
There are 80 stores in the entire chain across four western provinces: BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Here is what London Drugs posted:
At 5:49 pm PDT this evening, Saturday May 4, the locations of the reopened stores were posted in social media.
“For a list of stores that are currently open, please refer to (this) page: STORES THAT HAVE REOPENED.
“Please note that during our gradual reopening, some stores may not be open fully during regular operating hours. Thank you for your patience as we work with each store to ensure it is operating fully to meet all the needs of our customers,” the statement said.
Time consuming process:
Earlier today, at 2:12 pm, London Drugs announced that stores would be gradually reopened.
“This is a time-consuming process and, rather than delay until all services and systems are fully available, we have opened our core services in some stores to meet the healthcare and everyday needs of our customers as soon as possible. We will be bringing other services and systems on board as soon as our reconnection work is complete, and they are fully operational.”
No loss of customer data:
“At this point in the investigation, there is no evidence that any customer databases have been compromised, including our pharmacy patients and LDExtras members databases,” it was stated by London Drugs this afternoon.
What’s open in all stores:
• London Drugs Pharmacists are on-site at all store locations to assist with emergency prescriptions and other urgent care.
• Canada Post locations within stores are accessible.
• The Insurance Services Call Centre is open and helping customers with insurance needs. London Drugs’ Customer Care is also available at 1-888-991-2299. If needs are urgent, customers should visit their local store in-person during regular business hours for immediate support.
