This is budget season for municipalities. In Langford this week, there are four key City committee meetings that will drive a lot of municipal actions forward in the coming year.

  • Monday February 8. City of Langford. Planning, Zoning & Affordable Housing Committee. 5:30 pm.
  • Tuesday February 9. City of Langford. Administration and Finance Committee. 4:45 pm.
  • Tuesday February 9. City of Langford. Transportation & Public Works Committee. 5:30 pm.
  • Thursday February 11. City of Langford. Protective Services Committee. 5 pm.

All of those meetings have a teleconference dial-in opportunity for the public to listen-in and ask questions. Links to agendas and teleconferencing information is online.

What gets decided at committee meetings goes in the form of recommendations to Council, where most often than not they are approved as is.

The Parks, Recreation, Culture & Beautification Committee met on January 28, and Council last met on January 18.

School board for west shore and Sooke:

There will also be an SD62 school board Resource Committee meeting this week (Tuesday February 8 at 6 pm) to further discuss the upcoming 2021-2022 budget as well as a three-year planning phase for budgets as the impacts of pandemic-related spending are adjusted to.

The SD62 board last met on January 26, and their next full board meeting comes up February 23.
