The District of Metchosin was incorporated on December 3 in 1984. And the years have flown by!
The municipality will now celebrate 40 years of incorporation.

Proud of its agricultural roots and the continuation of a rural pace of life, the District of Metchosin sees its population still around the 5,000 mark. Yet just a about a 10-minute drive away there is the bustling growing City of Colwood in one direction and the fast-urbanizing City of Langford in the other.

Metchosin works hard to protect the natural environment within its borders, They have a strong agricultural sector and a robust emergency preparedness framework for residents.
For political reasons, Metchosin shares a west shore mindset with Colwood, Langford and also View Royal. But it remains steadfast in its focus to remain resilient in its own ways.
A small celebration will be held on Monday December 2 following the 7 pm council meeting, hosted by Mayor Marie-Térèse Little and council.
The reception to celebrate Metchosin’s past, present and future will be held at the municipal hall, 4450 Happy Valley Road. Refreshments will be served.
