This year the annual Langford “Show ‘n Shine” car show has become a cruise, with all registrants to remain in their cars. The event runs along some areas of Langford from 9:15 to 10:30 am on Sunday August 16.

This new format is due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, during which physical distancing is required by public health order.

There will be no food, entertainment, washroom facilities, or T-shirts available this year.

Registration for vintage car owners of the area was free this year, with all of that done online.

Registrants are to gather their cars at Belmont Secondary School at 9 am. The procession begins at 9:15 am, following a custom 2020 route mostly around the west side of Langford, including Westhills, Glen Lake/Jenkins and Jacklin Road over to Goldstream Avenue at the roundabout. Weaving back over into Westhills and along Alouette Drive, over to Langford Lake Road and along to Langford Parkway to Leigh Road, and along the scenic Bear Mountain Parkway. The ride ends around 10:30 am at the intersection of Bear Mountain Parkway and Millstream Road.

The public is invited to come out to watch the vintage vehicles shine on by, in this otherwise challenging COVID summer.

The weather forecast is for a seasonably hot sunny Sunday (a high of 30°C is in the forecast) under bright blue skies.
