The 11th Annual Cool Aid Coat Drive was launched this week, with donations of new or gently-used winter coats being welcomed in support of those in need up to Monday, January 14.
“Drop the warmth off,” say organizers. The downtown location at Cool Aid’s Labour Pool is 465 Swift Street near Wharf, 9 to 3 weekdays.
New this year, is the opportunity for people in the west shore to drop off their donations in Langford, to save the trip downtown.
The west shore drop-off location is at FairWay Woods seniors housing at 597 Goldstream Avenue in central Langford. There is parking in the back and a door off the parking lot with a doorbell to ring to call the staff. Note: items cannot be accepted between 12-1 pm while lunch is being served.
In addition to coats, these items are also needed and welcome: mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, socks, sweaters, footwear, sleeping bags and blankets.
“Clean out your closet and make hundreds of our neighbours warmer, healthier and happier,” says Alan Rycroft, Community Relations Manager, Victoria Cool Aid Society. “Everything you donate is given away for free,” he says.
