Curbside blue box recycling is cancelled today due to the impact of winter weather.

“Deteriorating weather and road conditions have made collection unsafe so in the interest of worker and public safety we will not be collecting curbside recycling today,” it was stated by the Capital Regional District (CRD).

Collection was also impacted in some areas Friday, February 8 and Monday, February 10.

Residents who are affected are advised to bring recycling inside until their next collection day. A list of depots where recycling can be dropped off for free is available at www.crd.bc.ca/bluebox .

The CRD Blue Box Recycling Program provides curbside recycling to over 121,000 homes in the region.

The CRD thanks residents for their understanding and patience. For updates, see www.crd.bc.ca and on Twitter @crd_bc

Residents included in the curbside blue box program are encouraged to continue rinsing their recyclable materials and sorting them into three separate streams (plastic and metal containers, paper and glass) to reduce contamination and ensure that these materials continue to have an end market.

The CRD collects recyclable materials from single family homes through its curbside blue box program on behalf of Recycle BC, who owns the recyclable materials and is responsible for marketing them. For more information, please visit https://recyclebc.ca .
