The swearing-in date for David Eby as BC’s 37th premier will be on Friday November 18, 2022. That ceremony will take place in Vancouver (previously was to take place at Government House). Cabinet will be sworn in on December 7, 2022 at Government House in Victoria.

The November break of the fall legislative session will be extended leading up to the swearing-in ceremony. Eby will first meet the legislative assembly as premier during the week of November 21.

As premier-designate, Eby met with Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin yesterday, after she had accepted Premier John Horgan’s resignation (effective the date that Eby becomes the next premier).

Chatting with the Prime Minister:

“As Premier, I’ll look for ways to build partnerships and get things done for people,” said David Eby in a tweet this afternoon. Thanks to (Prime Minister) Justin Trudeau for the call today to discuss issues that matter: making our communities safer, ensuring people have good healthcare and housing and building our clean energy future.”

Gratitude to Horgan:

Yesterday the Lieutenant Governor extended her sincere gratitude to Premier Horgan for his many years of service to the Province, and his leadership throughout the global pandemic and the many challenges that British Columbia has confronted in recent years.
