Construction of the first new buildings at Colwood Corners will be celebrated on Thursday October 4 by a gathering of Colwood Mayor and council, representatives from Onni Group, and other community leaders.
In January 2018, the City of Colwood issued a pre-liminary building permit to Onni Group to begin work on overall site, civil, and landscape preparation. Some initial site work related to stormwater management and other site considerations began mid-August. Completion of the first phase of construction is anticipated for 2020.
The site at 1907 Sooke Road was acquired by Onni Group in 2015 after the previous owners experienced financial difficulties during the post-2008 recession.
Onni plans to transform Colwood’s town centre with eight new buildings to provide more than 400 units of rental apartments and over 14,000 sq m of commercial space for new shops, services, and eateries.
