Children to decorate trees at Government House

A children’s tree-decorating party is part of the festivities for the Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, during the holiday season at Government House.

The event tomorrow Thursday December 13 runs from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Austin will welcome eight Grade 3 classes to Government House to decorate trees in the ballroom and in her office. The students will enjoy entertainment by Tickles the Clown, holiday treats and a grand finale tree lighting outside.

Two of the schools attending are from SD62 on the west shore: David Cameron Elementary and Wishart Elementary. The full list of participating schools this year includes: Christ Church Cathedral school; David Cameron Elementary; École Willows school; Marigold Elementary; Pacific Christian school; St. Patrick’s school; View Royal Elementary; Wishart Elementary.

Then on Friday December 14 at Government House there will be a public holiday open house and carolling, from 5 to 7 pm.  Singer Louise Rose will lead Christmas classics and seasonal favourites in the ballroom, and there will be an opportunity to view Government House’s holiday decorations. Donations for the Mustard Seed food bank will be gratefully accepted.
