Still looking for that perfect fresh cut Christmas tree? You’ll find 12 varieties at the Colwood campus Westshore Center for Learning & Training annual xmas tree fundraiser.

The daily sale got rolling on December 1, and by mid-week on December 4 their sales were 25% above last year’s at that point.

The trees are priced from $5 to $12 per foot. Spruce, pine, fir … lots to choose from. All in the yard beside the Colwood campus at 2139 Sooke Road. Oodles of parking, and nicely lit at night.

Half of the revenues go to the school fundraiser (after paying the other half to the Saanichton Tree Farm supplier).

The school puts their portion of the sale funds toward the 2019 grad ceremony, the school sustainability garden (both for learning and donating food crops), and creating a ‘belonging space’ for students.

SD62 teacher Debbie Lodewijk is the main organizer of this event each year. She is excited about the range of trees this year, and also the variety of crafts and other items that were made by the students and are also for sale under a big white tent within the tree sale area.
