A key intersection in Colwood is seeing some underground utility work this month and next.
BC Hydro is crossing all five lanes of Sooke Road at the Metchosin Road intersection to continue with the installation of the hydro duct bank through Metchosin Road to Trout Lane.
For Sooke Road (Hwy 14) the lane closures will follow the allowable times between 9 am and 3 pm. Northbound lanes will be open for the peak morning hours and southbound lanes will be open for the peak afternoon hours.
Traffic control personnel will be on site. Delays are to be expected.
Day shift schedule:
January 10 to 21 & February 14 to 25 – 7 am to 4 pm
Single lane alternating traffic on Metchosin Road will be maintained.
Night shift schedule:
January 24 to February 9 – 6 pm to 6 am.
Traffic wanting to use Metchosin Road during the night, note that the night shift schedule traffic will be detoured down to Veterans Memorial Parkway, over to Wishart Road and vice versa.
Alternative routes:
The City of Colwood suggests that motorists may wish to travel outside of peak hours or choose an alternate route
Pedestrians and cyclists are to use extra caution and follow all signs and traffic control personnel instructions.
Expansion:
The City of Colwood is growing and expanding in many ways, with a lot of road improvements and infrastructure installments going on around development of housing and commercial properties.
