An earthquake at a depth of 39 km and at 4.5 Magnitude was recorded as happening at 7:21 pm PDT this evening on Thanksgiving Sunday, October 8, 2023. The location was at 62 km northwest of Seattle, Washington.
Natural Resources Canada (NRC) reports that the quake was “lightly felt” in Victoria, BC.
There are no reports of damage, and none would be expected, says NRC.

One person in downtown Victoria posted this in social media this evening: “We felt the small earthquake in our James Bay home in Victoria. Made sure we have a box of food, water and medical supplies in a safe place to access easily in emergency.”
