Public education in the west shore region of Greater Victoria is delivered by the Sooke School District (SD62).

SD62 has announced their Kindergarten registration dates for the 2025-2026 school year (i.e. September 2025 to June 2026).

Children born in 2020 are eligible to start kindergarten. For parents to enroll their children, the children must be 5 years old on or before December 31, 2025. SD62 says there are no exceptions to this age requirement.

Program options:

  • Nature Kindergarten – offered at Sangster Elementary with info session (Colwood) on Jan 9 & Saseenos Elementary (Sooke) with info session on Jan 11 | Register online
  • Kindergarten French Immersion  – offered at three schools: École John Stubbs Memorial | École Poirier Elementary | École Millstream Elementary. Note: For École John Stubbs, the elementary and middle schools are separate. If you have a child in École John Stubbs Middle School or have a child who will be in the middle school the following September and are registering another child in École John Stubbs Elementary School, enrolment priorities #2 or #4 will not apply

    • re-enrolling students
    • a catchment area child who has a sibling currently attending the school
    • a catchment area child
    • a non-catchment child who has a sibling currently attending the school
    • a non-catchment child
    • a non-school district child
