The Liberal Party of Canada will host one English Debate and one French Debate in Montreal as part of their leadership candidate process.
- The French debate will be held on Monday February 24.
- The English debate will be held on Tuesday February 25.
Times and further details to be announced.

All five Liberal leadership candidates are invited to participate in the debates: Frank Baylis | Mark Carney | Ruby Dhalla | Chrystia Freeland | Karina Gould .
A fee of $125,000 was due by Friday February 7 in order to stay in the race.

The two frontrunners are considered by many to be Carney and Freeland, but Gould is making steady gains with an appeal to younger voters.
Carney has the bank governor profile, Freeland was finance minister and deputy prime minister, and Gould was House Leaderup until the leadership campaign.
Freeland did not help her campaign bid with being the one who in mid-December essentially pulled the plug on Trudeau and spun the Liberals into this leadership race.
Topics and trends:
Key topics of the debates are likely to be Canada-US relations, tariffs and trade diversification, housing, health-care and the carbon tax as well as household affordability support measures.
Most pundits are now suggesting that Canada’s next prime minister (from whatever political party) will be chosen by voters for their indication of how well they will deal with the US economic threat.
Next prime minister on March 9:
Liberal members will choose their new leader on Sunday March 9.
That new leader immediately becomes the next (24th) prime minister of Canada as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said he will step down as soon as a new Liberal leader is chosen.
