Former Colwood Mayor Rob Martin is the February 2025 ‘celebrity chef’ at Sawmill Taphouse in Colwood.
Martin was invited by the restaurant to create a ‘designer pizza’. The tasty pizza is available all month!
Rob Martin’s custom pizza is sweet and savory! Hand-tossed dough is layered with creamy bechamel sauce, topped with caramelized onions, Italian sausage, goat cheese, cranberry bacon jam, mozzarella cheese, and finished with arugula and a balsamic glaze.
Every pizza sold at the Colwood and Chemanius locations of Sawmill Taphouse in February 2025 will activate a $5 donation to be split 50/50 between two charities that Martin has selected: Arts & Culture Colwood Society and Urban Food Resilience Initiatives Society.
Two worthy causes:
Both non-profit organizations are grateful for everyone buying ‘designer pizza’ this month at Sawmill Taphouse, to help support their work.
The Arts & Culture Colwood Society supports local artists. Their winter gallery hours are Thursday to Sunday, 11 am to 3 pm. Their gallery at 170 Goldfinch Road (off of Lagoon Road in Colwood) is going cashless starting February 15.
The Urban Food Resilience Initiatives Society has a mission of ‘growing natural food in urban spaces’. They are working to encourage municipalities to incentivize developers to include food-growing capacity in all new built structures. UFRIS is also working on developing food freezer storage for use during disaster response in earthquake zones.
