For a month, there will be revised access to stores and other businesses in the small retail mall on Goldstream Avenue just west of Veterans Memorial Parkway during CRD (Capital Regional District) water main replacement work on Goldstream Ave.
During the water main replace from Monday January 16 through Friday February 10 (7 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with some night work), access to businesses will remain open, says City of Langford Engineer Michelle Mahovlich.
She says that the city will be contacting impacted businesses. On the south side that would include Academy of Learning, Atlas Drug Mart, La Tortilla Mexicana Deli & Grocery, May Gold Palace Restaurant, and OakTree Naturals. On the north side that would include the Chevron station, Bin 4 Burger Lounge, and probably also the retail stores (including Western Foods and Starbucks) in the strip mall that also has access at Claude Rd.
Traffic delays may be expected. Traffic control will be on-site directing traffic, says City of Langford Engineering.
Construction notice:
A construction notice was also recently sent by the CRD to local businesses and residents about the CRD’s Goldstream Asbestos Cement (AC) Pipe Replacement Program within the Juan de Fuca Water Distribution System.
Starting with that block of Goldstream closest to Veterans Memorial Parkway, the 1.6 km replacement of old water mains in Langford will be completed in segments over the course of this year.
The Capital Regional District (CRD) continues to attend to water distribution maintenance, as outlined at the Jan 3, 2023 Juan de Fuca Water Distribution Commission meeting.
