Seeking re-election to Langford Council are Denise Blackwell, Matt Sahlstrom, Lanny Seaton, Lillian Szpak and Roger Wade. Some have been on council since 1993, and others since 2002, or 2008. Norma Stewart would fill the sixth seat. Long-time councillor Winnie Sifert has retired effective with this 2018 election.
Also running for council is long-time SD62 school trustee Wendy Hobbs. Also running for mayor is long-time Langford resident Robert Fraser.
Stew Young and his long-time council have brought a significant round of improvement and change to Langford in the last few years including opening of the West Shore Parkway and Bear Mountain Parkway, securing the Rugby Canada headquarters here, bringing professional soccer to Westhills Stadium with the new Pacific FC, and working cooperatively with Ledcor Developments and their Belmont Residences project to bring a significant number of new housing units to Langford amidst the upcoming new Belmont Market with Thrifty Foods as an anchor tenant.
There is advance voting on Wednesday, October 17 at Langford City Hall (upstairs on the 3rd floor in council chambers), 8 am to 8 pm. General Election Day is on Saturday, October 20, from 8 am to 8 pm, in Langford at two elementary schools: Ruth King Elementary at 2764 Jacklin Rd and at Millstream Elementary at 626 Hoylake Ave.
