This afternoon in Colwood there was a serious vehicle incident at the corner of Island Highway and Ocean Boulevard (Wale Road on the west side).
It’s a bright sunny day today with warm spring temperatures.
At approximately 2:30 pm fire trucks and ambulance were heading to the scene.
Until an RCMP report was finally issued on April 8, it was reported by Island Social Trends that that a small red car and a motorcycle were involved in the incident.
The West Shore RCMP report on April 8 says: “The motorcycle stalled while entering the intersection at a green light and was hit by the following vehicle, which was was going at a very low speed.”
On scene, there appeared to be at least two people injured… one could be seen on a stretcher and the other was being tended to on the pavement by paramedics.
West Shore RCMP say: “The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries reported.”
Police arrival:
Police headed to the incident at 2:44 pm say West Shore RCMP.
A tow truck was on scene.
Traffic:
Northbound traffic on Island Highway was backed up for a while but had cleared before 3:30 pm.
Location:
The crash location was near the Westshore Parks and Recreation facility, the Park and Ride, and a range of retail stores and businesses.
The intersection at Island Highway / Ocean Boulevard / Wale Road is wide with some unusual lane change options.
It’s always a busy stretch of roadway as traffic heads to and from Highway 1 and the other way along Highway 14, as well as attending to various activities and errands in the area.
