Thursday, December 6 ~ LANGFORD.

Nighttime paving is scheduled on Highway 1 (Trans Canada) overnight tonight, Thursday December 6.

Mainroad Southlsland says drivers can expect minor delays while crews perform night paving in various locations on Highway 1 between Goldstream Provincial Park and McKenzie Avenue in Saanich.

The work is scheduled to start at 7 pm and run through to 5 am on Friday morning, December 7.

All lanes may be affected. Motorists can expect minor delays. “Please watch for roadside workers and obey traffic control,” says Mainroad.

There is also a reminder that with cooler temperatures that icy and slippery road conditions should be watched for during frosty mornings and evenings. Shaded areas, bridge decks, and corners are common areas where these conditions can occur on roads that may appear clear and dry. If vehicle windows are frosty, the surface of the road may be as well.

Under frosty and icy conditions, Mainroad South Island Contracting crews are out on the roads patrolling 24/7, as well as applying brine and de-icing salt; however, motorists are reminded to drive to and for the conditions. Exercise caution as weather conditions can change quickly, particularly around daybreak and sunset.

The Mainroad South Island 24/7 hotline is available for feedback and reports: 1-877-391-7310. All calls are logged and observations are passed on to Mainroad Operations.
