On Friday afternoon March 14 around 2:30 pm a cement truck and car collided near the 4500-block of Highway 14 (Sooke Road).
Both vehicles sustained significant damage and the occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries, says Cpl Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.

Landmark reference: the incident was just west of Westcoast Tire & Wheel. Highway 14 is the connector route between Langford and Sooke. It’s the only road in/out of Sooke for connection with Greater Victoria.
The highway is single lane in both directions (eastbound, westbound) at that curvy point in the road. The long detour route was via Kangaroo Road and Happy Valley Road.
Traffic was shut down in both directions so that emergency personnel could attend the scene.
Around 3:35 pm police said they expected the road to reopen within a few hours. The timing of the incident entirely bridge the Friday-afternoon commute.
According to Drive BC, by 4:40 pm Highway 14 was open again between Kangaroo Rd and Humpback Rd after the earlier vehicle incident.

The cement truck was full and required special equipment for being removal.
The cause of the MVI is still under investigation.
Comment from Butler Concrete is pending.
