On this cold sunny Saturday, the City of Langford Council hosted a mid-day New Year’s Open House.
It was as an opportunity to “welcome in 2025 with engaging conversations, light refreshments, and a chance to connect with friends, neighbours, and members of Council”.
The event from 11 am to 1 pm was hosted by Mayor Scott Goodmanson and all members of Langford council: Kimberely Guiry, Colby Harder, Mark Morley, Lillian Szpak, Mary Wagner and Keith Yacucha.
All the elected representatives engaged in detailed, something lengthy, conversations with about 60 members of the public. There were no formal remarks.
Several councillors made notes about comments or concerns that residents brought to their attention about infrastructure, transportation, community services and overall work and living experiences in Langford.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to share in the joy of the new year and strengthen our community ties,” the city says in their community-wide invitation.
There were refreshments from a few local suppliers, and casual conversations in the ground floor community room area at the Indigenous Perspectives Society office at 664 Granderson Road.
City communications staff organized and facilitated the event.
