The Luxton Spring Fair in Langford has been getting a great turnout in this lovely warm dry mid-May weather.
The midway rides and fun are back this year for another fun May long weekend: Thursday May 18 through Sunday May 21.
If you haven’t had a chance to enjoy the simple upbeat fun of a day at the fair, the grounds will be open again one more day… tomorrow, Sunday May 21. Free admission to the grounds, 12 noon to 6 pm.
Rides by West Coast Amusements are on tonight to 11 pm, and again on Sunday from 1 pm to 11 pm. Rides $45 for an all-day wristband. Rides & fees. For safety reasons, kids under age 2 (or under 36″ in height) as well as pregnant women are not allowed on any ride.
This Saturday afternoon there were easily about 2,000 people making their way around the grounds among rides, food stands and information booths. In a year where the pandemic now seems far behind us, the sense of excitement about simply hanging out at the fair was palpable.
The Luxton Fairgrounds is located at 1040 Marwood Avenue in the Happy Valley residential area of Langford. Families with children of all ages, teens and youth, and older folks, all seemed to just enjoy being out and about.
People attended from Langford, Colwood, the Sooke region, and other parts of Greater Victoria.
With a by-election coming up soon in Langford-Juan de Fuca there were information booths today by three candidates: Camille Currie (BC Green Party), Elena Lawson (BC United Party), and Ravi Parmar (BC NDP). | See separate article about the May 20 Langford-Juan de Fuca by-election campaign booths.
